Orchids – High maintenance but beautiful

I was given an orchid as a gift from a friend that is a wonderful gardener. I have kept the plant inside and baby it but it has not bloomed again. Do you have any suggestions?

Orchids are known for being as high maintenance as they are beautiful. There are several reasons that your flower may not be blooming but experts suggest that you may not be giving it the correct amount of sunlight. If it has light green or yellow leaves it is a sign that there is too much light. If the leaves are a dark, forest green then there is likely too little light. Another thing to check is the root space for the orchid. It is possible that it may need to be repotted. Orchids that are over watered tend to have more root problems than those that are not over watered. Lastly, according to experts, the plant needs to have some sort of stimuli to let it know that it is time to bloom. Some suggest lowering the room temperature for a couple of weeks to simulate an outdoor temperature change.
