Though Independence Day does not officially arrive until Thursday, The Point will be Shakin the Lake on Wednesday evening. The annual fireworks display has become one of the most anticipated summer events in Jefferson County and locals flock to the Douglas Lake area to take in the sights. This year no coolers will be allowed, however there will be the opportunity to purchase refreshments such as hot dogs, pizza and drinks. The patio will be open on a first-come- first- served basis and Angelos will have a limited menu for parties with reserved seating and there will be live music for pre fireworks entertainment. This year there will also be an inflatable water slide to keep those young and young at heart cool, while they await the colorful show. The Town of Dandridge will be hosting a celebration for their recently awarded designation as The Best Small Town on the Water at 7:30pm with inflatables, extended shopping hours and cake.
