Second Harvest and Medic Team Up to Improve Lives, July 16, 2013 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church

Medic Regional Blood Center was asked to partner with Second Harvest Food Bank this month in order to help their Food For Kids program.   Food for Kids provides kids with a backpack filled with kid-friendly food to take home after school or on the weekends. For many in the program, this food may be the only they receive all weekend.  Medic’s blood donors can simply decline their shirt and a monetary donation will be made specifically to support this program.   “We are proud to partner with such a great area non-profit and our donors really love the opportunity to help out two worthwhile causes with one action,” explains Christi Fightmaster, Medic spokesperson.  Donors can take advantage of this program all month long.

Donors will still receive a coupon for a free Chick-fil-A sandwich.  Medic has two donor center locations at 1601 Ailor Avenue and 11000 Kingston Pike in Farragut.   Additional community drives are also scheduled for donor convenience.

  • July 16, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 475 North Highway 92, 11am – 6pm, Inside Church Basement.

Donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh 110 pounds or more (16 year-olds weighing 120 pounds or more can donate but must have parental consent) and all donors must have positive identification.
