Farmers Encouraged to Report Losses

Farmers Encouraged to Report Losses

Jefferson/Sevier/Cocke Farm Service Agency (FSA) County Committee Chairperson, Ronnie Denton urges farmers affected by natural disaster such as excessive rainfall, drought, tornadoes, etc. to report losses of crops, livestock, fencing, farmland and farm buildings. The report of losses initiates the disaster designation process.

The local Emergency Board reviews farm losses and can recommend approval of Disaster Designation. If the county is designated a natural disaster, then all qualified farm operators are eligible for low interest emergency loans and certain disaster assistance programs.

Denton encourages farmers to visit the local FSA office and report damages to crops, livestock, farmland and farm buildings.
