Frozen Treats For Blood Donors

medic-logo-10032011Medic Regional Blood Center reports that there is an emergency need for all blood types and the community blood center has less than a one day supply of blood in inventory for 27 area hospitals.  “The summer is always a difficult time for us in keeping up with the need for blood and this year is no exception.  We currently have a critical need for all blood types, especially O Negative which is the universal blood type most often used during emergency situations when blood type is not known,” informs Christi Fightmaster, Medic’s spokesperson.   As an extra incentive there are several freebies for those who take the time to roll up their sleeve.  “We are so thankful to have wonderful vendors who support the community blood center,” says Fightmaster.   Donors now through Labor Day will receive a coupon for a free chicken sandwich compliments of Chick-fil-A and the week of August 5 donors will receive a coupon for a free 5oz Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt.   Medic is hopeful these incentive items will motivate people to take the time to donate blood.

Medic has two donors centers:  1601 Ailor Avenue and 11000 Kingston Pike in Farragut.  Community drives are also planned for added convenience.
