The Newport Farmers Market, located at 424 Heritage Boulevard, Newport on Saturday, August 3rd, l was filled with locally grown, homemade foods and hand crafted and items for sale.  Many small farmers and bakers were handing out samples of their fresh products for customers to sample.  Cocke County Mayor Vaughn Moore stopped by, along with State Representative Jeremy Faison, to offer their support and check out the goods.

Cocke County Firefighters were onsite, as well, and brought along a fire engine, much to the delight of the children in attendance. Other family friendly activities included a bouncy house along with face painting and a clown entertained the crowd by making fun balloons!  Locals were treated to some tunes on the banjo and free portraits were taken.

The Pick Tennessee Products organization was onsite to offer recipes to guest, along with detailed information about how to become more involved in the agriculture in the area. The University Extension was onsite offering invaluable information about canning and freezing fresh vegetables.  They gave out l reusable bags along with measuring spoons and cups.
