Facilities Committee Elect New Officers

Highway Patrol in need of new space.

The Jefferson County Facilities Committee held the regular scheduled meeting prior to the County Commission work session on Friday, November 13, 2012 at 6:00pm in the Jefferson County Historic Courthouse in Dandridge. Present were commissioners Dockery, Carmichael, Griffith and Turner. Tabor was not present at the meeting.

The agenda consisted of one main item of business which was the election of officers for the committee Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary positions. After acting Chair Russell Turner called the meeting to order, the call for nominations of officers began with Griffith nominating Russell Turner. The vote was unanimous in favor. Commissioner Carmichael made the nomination for Commissioner Dockery for the Vice Chairman position, which was voted unanimously in favor. The third position of Secretary was nominated by Commissioner Carmichael who brought the name of Commissioner Tabor (not present). Commissioner Tabor was also unanimously concurred upon for the position of Secretary.

In other discussion, Chairman Turner stated that the committee should look at upcoming meeting dates, mentioning that the Committee would not meet again until after Thanksgiving.

Commissioner Carmichael brought the topic of the Highway Patrol and its need to locate in the space previously used by Jefferson County Emergency Services.

Chairman Turner addressed the issue of meeting times and days to avoid the same meeting dates as other committees. The next meeting is slated for November 29, 2012 at 7:00pm in the Historic Jefferson County Courthouse’s main courtroom. The Meeting was Adjourned.
