UT Extension hosts the 19th annual Grain and Soybean Producers Conference on Thursday, February 6, 2014, in Dyersburg, Tenn.

Join agricultural leaders at Tennessee Grain and Soybean Producers Conference UT Extension hosts 19th annual event on February 6

Informative presentations, an extensive trade show, and an opportunity to network with some of the leaders in the state’s row crop industry are all on the agenda for the 2014 Tennessee Grain and Soybean Producers Conference.

This University of Tennessee Extension event will be held on Thursday, February 6, at the Dyer County Fairgrounds on James Rice Road. Registration opens at 7:45 a.m. CST. As visitors arrive, they can see what trade show vendors have to offer and enjoy a time to “meet and greet” over complimentary coffee and donuts.

Breakout sessions begin at 9 a.m. They include presentations on precision agriculture and seed treatments as well as sprayer demonstrations. At 10 a.m. a panel of local farmers and UT Institute of Agriculture researchers will discuss cover crops.

All visitors will reconvene at 11 a.m. for a report on the newly implemented Commodities for Communities program, followed by a special presentation on trailer safety.

A complimentary lunch will be served at noon, and will be immediately followed by the conference’s keynote speaker, Dr. Daryll Ray, Blasingame Chair of Excellence in Agricultural Policy from UTIA. Ray will share information on commodity policy, development of analytical models for policy analysis, and deepening the understanding of the structure and nature of the agricultural sector of our economy.

Producers, commercial applicators and certified crop advisors can obtain certification points at the conference.
