Biblical Times Theater Kicks off new season with New show

The Biblical Times Dinner Theater in Pigeon Forge has kicked off its second full season with a new show featuring amazing holographic technology and a meal of Biblical proportions.

The new show is entitled “Moses Mountain of God” The show is a unique Biblical production that combines live performers with amazing holograph technology. Written by Jess and Linda Davis, the production is three years in the making. The show combines two shows in one, the first half features the award winning cast performing a variety of gospel and fun-filled humorous songs, along with sharing their personal testimonies. During the preshow, the audience is treated to a seven course feast. The second half is the Biblical portion of the production with original music and innovative holographic technology that was first introduced to Pigeon Forge in 2012 at the Biblical Times Theater which pioneered the concept in the area.

Moses Mountain of God is an inspiring story told through the eyes of Moses’ assistant commander, Joshua. The story retraces Moses’ birth and his rise to lead the enslaved Israelites to freedom. With holographic technology, Moses and other characters of the Bible are brought to life. The holograms interact with the live actors making it difficult for audience members to ascertain which characters are real and which are computer generated. The actors portray various characters from the book of Exodus interacting with the holograms and performing inspiring gospel music pertinent to the story of Moses.

The show recounts the plagues brought upon Egypt, the Passover, the Exodus, the parting of the Red Sea and Moses receiving the Ten Commandments from God on Mount Sanai.

The preshow includes a video detailing archaeological work conducted by Jim and Penny Caldwell who have discovered a mass grave containing ancient human bones, and the rock from which water sprang forth to sate the thirst of the Israelites. The team has discovered numerous artifacts at Mount Sanai pertaining to the real Moses that are discussed in the video.

Following the video the talented cast members perform gospel songs including a comical, yet reverent, rendition of “Leaning on the everlasting arms” performed in various genres of music from the 1950s to present day.

The award-winning cast of five includes Adam Elrod who has been nominated for a Dove Award and Benjamin Morelock who has performed with nationally renowned gospel artist The Hoppers. Blaine Sumler, a graduate of Bethel University plays as Moses. Ashely Jenkins and Rachel Barnes round out the cast. Jenkins performs comedy and gospel music with a powerful and uplifting voice. Barnes is a graduate of Bethel University and possesses a phenomenally powerful voice that is much more mature than she herself.

“This story is true to the Bible,” said director Allan Miller. “It is based on the King James version of the Bible. We have had so many people that have complimented us on the production. Most have said it was very entertaining and educational.”

The menu consists of hand-carved roast beef, wood-smoked pulled pork, chicken tenders, herb garnished red potatoes, home-style baked beans, crispy tossed salad, a cheddar cheese biscuit, caramel cream cake, unlimited tea or lemonade.

“The message of this story is that the same lessons of faith that Israel learned in preparing for the crossing over into the Promised Land are the same lessons for us in our daily walk,” said Miller. “Lessons that will help prepare us for crossing over to Glory with the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

The show has received rave reviews on Trip Advisor. The theater offers discounts on tickets for senior citizens, groups and Sevier County residents. Anyone that brings a church bulletin will get a discount of $2 per ticket.
