Blakeleigh Rone Act Passes House With Unanimous Support From State Lawmakers

Legislation sponsored by State Representative Jeremy Faison (R–Cosby) aimed at helping the parents of newborns in the state receive proper training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques passed the House of Representatives this week with full support from both parties.

The bill, named in honor of the late Blakeleigh Rone of Cocke County who passed away at 3 months old, requires doctors who treat pregnant mothers to make available information and instruction concerning the appropriate use and techniques of infant CPR.

Kelvin and Trish Rone, father and grandmother of Blakeleigh, were present in Nashville with Representative Faison when HB 1788 was passed by the House. To see a video of the visit and the legislation being approved, visit http://bit.ly/1im0DNO.
