The Geek Trifecta

Really 300xMy geek is showing, as my sister, a dull Muggle, used to say. In fact, this week it reached a harmonious crescendo. My wife, uber geek, found a geek loot of the month club. Now we can receive Einstein bobble heads, LOTR gear, and dwarven keys to the mountain randomly through the mail. And yes, the fact that I know what LOTR stands for does make me feel superior. I, geek extraordinaire, perfected the artistic construction of a Styrofoam D&D castle ruin, a stellar achievement Sheldon Cooper himself would envy. Then to complete the trifecta, my daughter, geek in training, discovered the vocabulary expanding possibilities of a good Marvel comic book.

You see, my daughter has a mind of her own. This is both refreshing and a challenge. So when I say my daughter is about to be obstreperous, I am being honest and quoting one heck of a good Avengers comic (Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, The Avengers #33). The fact that she learned the word obstreperous from a comic book is the cherry on the sundae, the icing on the cake, the obscure script on the ring. I greeted this fortunate turn of events with alacrity, which is another word she learned from a comic book. Wow, what a great week! Next thing you know, I’ll find the Arkenstone in a box of old rhinestones from my Rhinestone Cowboy days.
