Pets and Bees

I am really happy that it is getting warmer, however the rising temperature has made the wasp and bees around my house go crazy. I really am afraid of my dog getting stung when we go out for a walk and I am not too keen on getting stung myself. Do you have any suggestions?

Generally, the wasps and bees are a little more intrusive in the early spring and late fall. The inconsistent temperatures are confusing to them and they appear more aggressive. If you are noticing a serious increase in the number of wasps or bees around your home, the first step is to see if any nests are visible. It is possible that they may be nesting in old planters or window boxes around your home. Small nests can be taken care of with an over the counter spray but be sure that pets are not consuming the wasps or bees after they are sprayed and there is always some risk of getting stung in the process. Sometimes it is worth the cost to get a professional exterminator to come out when the weather gets warm. Usually this is not very expensive and could save you and your pets from getting the business end of one of their stingers.
