The Lady Patriots got their third win in as many tries Thursday evening defeating the Sevier County Smoky Bears 3-0. Leslie Odom led the charge from the mound striking out 8 Smoky Bearettes while only allowing 3 hits throughout the entire contest.

“It’s not what we wanted, but a 3-0 win is as good as 14-4 or anything else.” Head Coach Bekkah Massaro said. She added “Sevier County is not a team to take lightly, they are making some great plays out there.” Jefferson County defeated Sevier County in two meetings last season by a combined score of 20-0.

Jefferson County would first score in the third inning when Summer Hayes got on with a single and score one batter later when Shelby Winstead smacked a double to right centerfield. The Lady Pats would strike again in the fifth inning getting 2 runs to the plate off the bats of Shelby Winstead and Leslie Odom. Sevier County would never really threaten to score as they did not have a runner in scoring position the entire contest. The Lady Patriots would win their third in a row and post a 3-0 win.

Shelby Winstead would lead the Lady Pats from the dish going 2-3 with 2 doubles, while knocking in 2 of the Patriots 3 runs. Leslie Odom would help her cause as well, also going 2-3 and knocking in one run. With the win the Lady Patriots improve 4-8 on the season but more importantly 3-2 in the conference.
