Kyle Briggs was one hit shy of the cycle and had 5 RBI’s to lead the Jefferson County Patriots to big conference win over Cocke County , 9-3. Briggs went 3-3 from the dish recording a double, triple, and an absolute bomb over the right field wall. Head Coach Gaines Cox was pleased with his Junior Outfielder’s effort, “I was happy for Kyle, he’s worked very hard on his swing, he’s made some adjustments, and it was a big momentum swing for us.”

Freshman, Matt Bradley, came up large again for the Patriots on the mound, striking out 7 Fighting Cocks in just 6 innings of work while not allowing a single run while on the hill. He also helped his cause at the plate going 1-2 with a double and a sacrifice bunt to move runners in to scoring position. “Matt Bradley was phenomenal again on the mound I’m hoping he continues that. I’m very very proud of him regardless of what grade he is in.” Matt Bradley has become the leading pitcher on this young baseball team. He has a very impressive 1.58 ERA in 31 innings of work this year as well as gained his third win on the season. His 2 losses on the season were 1-run defeats to Halls and Sevier County.

With the win Jefferson County improves to 8-10 on the season and 4-6 in IMAC play. Gaines Cox seemed satisfied with his teams play on Tuesday night, “I’m very pleased, we put some really quality at bats together there back to back.” He added “I was very pleased early of putting the ball in play with 2 strikes.” He closed saying “But I’m happy for our guys getting the win tonight.”
