Republican Women Host Forum

The Jefferson County Republican Women hosted a pancake breakfast and candidate forum on Saturday morning. Candidates for both the May and August elections were on hand to introduce themselves to a standing room only crowd. Republican Party Chairwoman Paula Rugel offered the welcome and call for candidates, while Tamara Fain served as time keeper. Candidates were afforded three minutes to address the room and were called to the microphone alphabetically and by office. All contested offices were represented, with most candidates present and the majority of uncontested candidates were on hand to express their gratitude for the support of the community. There will be a candidate debate, hosted by the Jefferson County Post, for the offices of Mayor, County Court Clerk, Trustee and Sheriff on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 6:30 pm in the Main Courtroom of the Historic Jefferson County Courthouse. Moderator for the event will be Doug Goddard and questions unique to each office have been submitted by the public for a blind draw. Uncontested candidates and candidates for the General Sessions Judge will be introduced at the Debate. The Public is invited and encouraged to attend the Jefferson County Post Primary Debate.
