Boys and Girls Club Egg Scramble

“We had a really good Easter Egg Hunt turnout today.” said Jared Boyd, Director of the Boys and Girls Club Jefferson City Unit. “With more than 150 kids showing up”, enthusiastic with the excitement of filling their baskets and bags. All fields were prepared for the hunt according to age, with each field densely covered with plastic pastel-colored eggs. At 11:00am, the sheriff’s siren sounded and the event began. Children scrambled in the fields, quickly gathering their prized goodies. It was over in less than ten minutes.

Prior to the event, the Boys and Girls Club staff and volunteers stuffed over 10,000 Easter eggs. Volunteers from the JCHS Service Learning Class helped by stuffing over 3,000 of them. A game field awaited the early arrivals. It was set up with games usually played at the Boys and Girls Club; cone ball, dodge ball, corn hole, to name a few.

Joe Gibson and his team from Walmart sponsored the festive event, donating the plastic eggs, candy, and four bicycles. The bicycles were awarded to the children who found the special eggs containing bells.
