Not Just Another Game, Breast Cancer Awareness

Jefferson County High School Baseball will play host to Cherokee on Tuesday night at 7:30. However, when they take the field Tuesday night it will be more than just another conference game. $1 of each ticket sold will go to the Susan G. Komen For The Cure Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation. It is not only the baseball team involved, Head Football Coach Kenny Cobble has agreed, if they sell 250 student tickets, to jump from an airplane. Farm Bureau Insurance will be in attendance selling hats, as well as some pink t-shirts.

Breast cancer impacts thousands of women each and every year. The Jefferson County coaching staff knows all too well the effects of breast cancer, “ I lost my mother to it when I was 15 years old.” Head Coach Gaines Cox stated. He added “ Coach Reese’s mother has recently gone through some breast cancer surgeries and treatments, It’s something that really hits home for me and Coach Reese and probably a lot of other people.” He closed saying “We are excited about doing it, we are looking forward to it.”
