Saturday was a good day to take to the air and several area children took the opportunity to do just that, as the Moore-Murrell Airport in Morristown hosted the Experimental Aircraft Association. The annual event is a wonderful way to spotlight the Young Eagles, a program designed to promote an interest in aviation in young people from ages 8 to 17. Born in the early 1990s, the Young Eagle program pairs members with EAA volunteer pilots. On Saturday, experienced, local pilots with EAA were on hand to take some of the participants up into the blue sky, while others enjoyed the sights of the various planes from the ground. Those that have a real interest in aviation may join other programs, as well, that are offered to dedicated, young aviation enthusiasts. Saturday’s event was the launching ground for imaginations to soar even further than the wings of the planes could take them and for a group of local children to experience life high in the sky.
