Solomon Announces Candidacy For Re-election To 5th District County Commission Seat

Sammy Solomon, current County Commissioner for Jefferson County’s 5th District has announced his candidacy for re-election.

Solomon is a life-long resident of New Market. He is employed by Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City. Solomon strongly believes in giving back to his community through personal service and has spent his life serving the citizens of Jefferson County. Solomon has been selfless in his dedication to serving for over 35 years as Commander of Administration of the New Market Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Team. Solomon was instrumental in helping to secure grant money from FEMA which resulted in the purchase of a new fire tanker for the New Market Volunteer Fire Department. Likewise, on another occasion, his assistance resulted in the fire department being awarded grant money from FEMA in the amount of $88,725 which enabled the fire department to purchase new protective suits for every member of the department. Sammy utilizes his organizational skills in coordinating annual fundraisers such as SummerFest. Prior to his becoming a County Commissioner, Solomon served ably as a member of the New Market City Council for 14 years.

As the son of Frank and Nancy Solomon, it is easy to see where Sammy gets his passion for serving this community. Solomon is married to Leigh Patterson Solomon who is employed as a Dental Hygienist for a local dentist.

Solomon says, “It has been my privilege and honor to serve the people of the 5th District on the commission these past few years. With current redistricting, I also welcome the opportunity to serve those new to the 5th district. If elected, I will be dedicated to the best interest of all the citizens of Jefferson County.
