Tim “Pop” Seals has announced he is a candidate for County Commission from the 5th District. Tim was born and raised in Jefferson County. As Zoning Officer for the county, Tim is familiar with local government as well as the issues affecting residents.

Besides his work as zoning officer, Tim has served on several significant committees.  As a member of the Resource Committee, he assisted in performing demographic research and facility assessment for the Jefferson County School Board. Tim also served on the State and County Environmental Transition committee.  This committee assisted in the transition of authority for environmental issues from the state to the county level. Tim has also participated in the Growth Readiness Workshops sponsored by TVA to help with tactical and thoughtful planning.

Tim is an advocate for less government not more. He believes Jefferson County can be a showcase for communities in East Tennessee. He would like to see spending brought under control and good planning. Tim says his objective is to streamline local government, see all divisions of government work together, and help move the county forward.

Tim and his wife Becky have two grown daughters and three grandchildren. He is a member of Rocky Valley Baptist Church. In his spare time Tim plays with a country music band.  He also hosts his own radio show, Pops Country Classics, on WJFC 1480 AM and 102.9 FM every Wednesday evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Tim appreciates all who have encouraged him to run for County Commission and pledges to work for the best interest of Jefferson County.
