Jefferson County Blood Drive, July 15, 2014

Summer months are difficult for several businesses and the same is true for Medic Regional Blood Center, the community blood provider.   According to Medic, the organization struggles to reach the daily quota of donors necessary to adequately supply local hospitals.   “Families are busier than usual with kids out of school and planning vacations; however, there’s more activities in our area which,  unfortunately, can lead to accidents where blood is needed,” explains Christi Fightmaster, Medic’s spokesperson.    Now through Labor Day all donors who give blood will receive a coupon for a free chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A as well as a chance to win a pair of Tennessee Smokies tickets that are good for any regular season home game.

Donors can always give blood at one of two donors centers:  1601 Ailor Avenue or 11000 Kingston Pike in Farragut.  Community drives are also planned for added convenience.
