Roberts Continues Hot Streak in South Florida Collegiate League

carson-newman sports logoCarson-Newman third baseman Brandon Roberts (Davie, Fla.) has turned up the thermostat on his bat in the South Florida Collegiate League to torrid temperatures.

The rising junior is batting .404 for the South Florida Breakers in 47 at bats.  He has a trio of multi-hit games in his last seven outings.  Among those is a five-hit game against the South Florida Canes.  Roberts went five-for-five in that 10-3 win for the Breakers with a double, two runs scored and a run batted in.

Roberts was equally adept in a 14-13 loss to the South Florida Blazers.  The 5-9 infielder plunked a pair of doubles, had three hits in four at-bats and scored three runs.  On top of that, he drove in three runs.

Roberts is one of three Eagles playing in collegiate summer leagues.  Pitcher Quinton Yocom is a regular starter for the West Virginia Miners of the Prospect League with a 4.38 ERA.  Bo Ausmus and Bryan Everhart both compete in the Atlantic Collegiate League for the Lehigh Valley Catz.  Ausmus hits .248 while Everhart has seen his average dip to .119.
