The Vance Building in Dandridge hosted a meet and greet for Chief Justice Gary Wade of the Tennessee Supreme Court on Sunday, July 6, 2014. The bi-partisan event was well-attended, and all who came were encouraged to stay and enjoy refreshments throughout the early evening. State Representative Andrew Farmer introduced the Chief Justice, following remarks concerning his service. After making his way throughout the building and personally addressing the attendees, Chief Justice Wade gave a brief speech on the building’s third floor. Chief Justice Wade kept the address brief and personal, discussing his history with the Jefferson County, and Dandridge area, as well as how much he has enjoyed serving the community throughout the years. The speech was ended with a humble request for retention, so that he may continue to serve the people for whom he cares. Afterward, Chief Justice Wade continued to make his rounds of the building, giving each person the chance to speak with him personally. The issue of retention will be on the August 7, 2014 ballot and every voter is encouraged to exercise his privilege on this important issue. In depth information on Chief Justice Wade and his bid for retention can be found at in an interview earlier in the week with The Post.
