Betty Fain has announced her candidacy for Republican State Executive Committeewoman in the 8th State Senate District; including Claiborne, Grainger, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson, and Union County.

Betty was born and raised in Jefferson County where she has been actively involved in Republican politics throughout her adult life. She has held numerous positions over the years on the county party’s local executive committee. Betty was a charter member of the Jefferson County Republican Women of the Future. Over the years she has served the club on multiple occasions as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-President and President and still serves the club as its Secretary/Treasurer today. Currently, she is also serving as a Vice-President with the Tennessee Federation of Republican Women.

“I’m a firm believer that the State Executive Committeewoman is elected by the Republican voters of our six county district to be a representative for the local Republican executive committees in our district,” says Fain. “Your committeewoman should be your voice on the state-level and a resource for the local county parties of your district.” Far too often, a person elected at-large by the citizens forgets those who they are actually elected to represent, in this case the Republican voters of the 8th State Senate District.

East Tennessee has a long tradition as a Republican stronghold for the state. “We know a lot about conservative Republican politics in East Tennessee,” notes Fain. “If you want to make Tennessee ‘Red to the Roots,’ take notes from East Tennessee and in particular our 8th district where it’s a way of life.”

Betty pledges to be a committeewoman dedicated to ‘Service not Status’ for the 8th State Senate District. “I’m certainly not the kind of person fascinated with having my picture or name out front for everyone to see. I’m a worker. It takes rolling up our sleeves, working together and putting vanity aside to continue to grow and strengthen our Republican party in Tennessee and across the nation. Our state executive committee members are supposed to be an asset to our county parties, not a hindrance. If your committeewoman thinks she knows better than the local republican leaders in your counties, you don’t have a representative of your district.”

Betty has been a self-employed small business owner for years. She lives in Dandridge with her husband on the family’s farm, surrounded by her two children, their spouses, and three of her four grandchildren. Her eldest granddaughter is currently stationed overseas as a Petty Officer with the U.S. Navy.
