Golf Teams Dominate Opener

Jefferson County opened their golf season on Monday in style, with dominating performances by both boys and girls teams. The team’s opened their season at Patriot Hills Golf Club in Jefferson City. On the boys side they defeated the Chiefs with total of 141-162, while the Lady Patriots outshot Cherokee 79-120

Kelsey Haun led the Lady Patriots in the clubhouse shooting a 39 in the nine hole event. McKay DeVault wasn’t far behind shooting a (+4) 40. While on the lady’s side they count the top two performer’s for the team score, MaKenzie Doane and Destiny Bales shot a 51 and 52 respectively. Which in hinde sight would have still been enough to defeat the Lady Chiefs.

The boy’s side was a little tighter, however the Patriots still rolled to a 21 stroke victory. The Patriots were led by Jake Barnes, who shot a remarkable (-3) 33 including 4 birdies and hitting 8 of 9 greens in regulation. Trevor Gentry shot a 35 with 3 birdies, while Justin Saylor finished at (E) 36. Reno Helton and Danny Bates shot 37 and 40 repectively. Andrew Briggs would shoot a 42 despite having 2 birdies, while Clay Tucker and Bryson Jurek round out the scoring shooting a 43 and 46.

Both Jefferson County golf teams return to action this evening at Holston Hills Country Club in a three way contest between South Doyle and Cocke County. That match tees off at 4 p.m.
