WSCC Workforce Training Classes in September

Walters State’s division of Workforce Training will offer a variety of  classes at the Morristown, Greeneville and Sevierville Campuses, beginning  in September. The schedule is as follows:

Phlebotomy Technician: 5:30-9 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, September  8-November 12 on the Morristown Campus and September 15-November 19 on the  Greeneville Campus. This 10-week program is designed to provide didactic and  clinical instruction in venipuncture. The 70-hour program prepares students  for collecting blood specimens for laboratory analysis. Students will become  familiar with all aspects of blood collection and develop comprehensive  skills to perform venipuncture safely. Classroom work includes terminology,  anatomy and physiology; blood collection procedures, hands-on specimen  practice and clinical training in skills and techniques to perform puncture  methods. The program also includes lab exercises; live blood draws and  practice with a training arm to prepare students to function at an  entry-level job. Certified Nursing Aide Training (CNA): 5 – 10 p.m., Mondays and Tuesdays, September 15-November 24 on the Sevierville Campus and 4 – 9 p.m., Mondays  and Wednesdays, September 15-November 24 on the Greeneville Campus. Nurse  aides perform routine patient care, which may include assisting with meals  or exercise, taking vital signs and personal hygiene. The course is divided  into three components, lecture, classroom skills lab and 35 hours of  supervised patient care (clinical) in a long-term care facility.

Registered Dental Assistant: 6 – 9 p.m., September 4-February 12 on the  Sevierville Campus. This course is a Tennessee Board of Dentistry approved  120-hour course. Students will cover all aspects of dentistry including, but  not limited to, anatomy and physiology, tooth morphology, infection control,  and restorative dentistry along with dental office radiology. Students are  required to provide verification of thirty hours of observation at a dental  office by the last day of class. A high school diploma or GED is also  required. After completion of the RDA course, the students should register  as a dental assistant with the Tennessee Board of Dentistry, complete a  background check and obtain a CPR certification.
