Two Charged In Altercation At Field Of Dreams

Two women were arrested last week in conjunction with an incident involving a stabbing at the Field of Dreams, located in Dandridge. According to arrest reports, Tina Gilliam, of 757 E. Meeting Street, Dandridge, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of simple assault and reckless endangerment involving a deadly weapon. Dorothy Lewis, of Woodland Drive in Dandridge, was charged with resisting arrest.

Tina Gilliam allegedly had a verbal altercation with her soon to be ex daughter in law while attending a football game at the Field of Dreams. According to information found in the investigation, Gilliam was upset that her soon to be ex daughter in law was at the ballgame with her new boyfriend and Gilliam’s son was not allowed attendance due to an order of protection issued by the Jefferson County Courts. After her daughter in law disengaged in the argument to seek a representative of the Field of Dreams, Tina Gilliam, James Gilliam and Dorothy Lewis confronted the new boyfriend, with Gilliam allegedly throwing a chair at the man. The report states that Gilliam allegedly retreated only to return with a pink pocket knife and threatened the new boyfriend. At this point, James Gilliam placed himself between Tina Gilliam and the man, and a struggle for the knife ensued, resulting in James Gilliam being stabbed in the arm.

Off Duty Dandridge Police Officer Robby McMahan, who was Coaching ball at the time, was summoned to the scene. The suspects had dropped the knife into a purse and refused to surrender it to Officer McMahan. Lewis attempted to leave with the purse containing the knife and Officer McMahan stated that in his effort to control the purse Lewis did fall to the ground, injuring her finger.

Dandridge Police Officers arrived on the scene and recovered the bloody knife from the purse in question, as well as took statements from witnesses. No parties were transported to the hospital via ambulance. Tina Gilliam was arrested at the Field of Dreams and Lewis was arrested the next day, without incident. The alleged subjects of the incident are banned from the Field of Dreams under threat of criminal trespassing charges. Officer Sam Cameron is listed as the reporting officer for both Gilliam and Lewis.
