Bunny Foo Foo

Growing YearsTime for a little fun! “Little Bunny Foo Foo” is a repetitive song with an upbeat melody that children love. The origin is unknown, but it is a popular children’s folklore that tells of a bunny harassing a field of mice. The bunny is scolded three times by a fairy, and later punished for its actions. It is sung to the tune of “Down by the Station” using hand gestures. Educators, including myself, have found this song helpful when teaching motor and language skills to children. Repeat 4 times using #1, 2, 3, and 4.

Little bunny foo-foo, (hold up two fingers) hopping through the forest (bounce your hand up and down) Scooping up the field mice, (make a scooping motion with hand) and bopping them on the head. (slap top of fist with palm).

(Spoken) Then down came the Good Fairy (wave fingers both hands in downward motion) , and she said: Little Bunny Foo-Foo, (wag forefinger – “no-no”) I don’t wanna see you (wag forefinger – “no-no”) Scooping up the field mice, (scooping motion with hand) and bopping them on the head. (slap top of fist with palm)

(spoken) skip this verse after #4 #1 I’ll give you 3 chances, #2 I’ll give you 2 chances, #3 I’ll give you 1 more chance, and if you don’t behave, #1 I’ll turn you into a Goon! #2 I’ll turn you into a Goon! #3 I’ll turn you into a Goon!

After #4 (Spoken)

POOF! You’re a goon! And the moral of the story is: Hare today, goon tomorrow!
