It’s a Dog’s World

Talk about trends, man has always loved man’s best friend, our precious puppies. Facebook is a great place to find the most amusing and amazing videos of dogs sharing the joy of their playful nature, the funny antics, devotion, and bravery of every type of breed. I have laughed until my sides hurt and cried buckets of tears while watching the videos shared by friends.

One of my favorites is a video of Brutus Shannon, a beautiful German Sheppard, owned by Deloris Shannon. Brutus is such a gentleman, he immediately runs to open the car door for Deloris. When I first saw this video, I wanted a dog just like Brutus. I posted a note to Deloris telling her how much I would love to have a prince of a dog.

Well, wishes do come true, and much to my surprise, her daughter, Julie, called to say one of Brutus’s favorite sports happened to be racing, racing after cars passing by the house which is close to the road. The family had done everything to stop his favorite sport, but nothing made by man could stop his love of the race.

Brutus came for a visit to my house, so well-groomed and handsome and of course I fell in love with his friendly nature and intelligence. My house is not close to the road so perhaps I could become his Aunt and he could have a safe home here.

It was simply not to be. My little, most petite dog, Jezzy took one look at him and decided no way she was going to share her life with this competition. She began a vicious tantrum, snarling at him. showing her teeth, barking like crazy, and trying to attack him. He just looked at her and wagged his tail. Jezzy became even more determined to get rid of this mystery male. We had to put her in the car with her sister, Biscuit, to keep her from being an attack dog. We were talking about her behavior and forgot that Brutus could open a car as easily as a guy on his first date. Louder barking came from the car, and lo-and-behold, Brutus had gotten in the car with the two petite darlings. Now in a frenzy, Jezzy came unglued as Brutus sat in the front seat with great dignity.

To make a long story short, Jezzy got her way. It would have been impossible to blend the two, not because of Brutus but Jezzy had lost her manners and became filled with fury that her position might be usurped. Sadly, I waved goodbye to Brutus, wishing he could have become a part of our family.

Jezzy was so upset she would not eat for two days. I can also imagine her throat was sore from such fierce barking.

Would you believe there is now an ice cream for dogs? Food City has two flavors, peanut butter and original ice cream in the freezer section along with the ones for those who walk upright.

Fashions for our darling dogs is really the trend. American Eagle has even gotten in on the action! The well-know brand has started a line of clothing for canines called American Beagle. The doggie fashions may be bought online and will be in the stores soon..

My girls love to dress and prance around. I love the most feminine clothes for Jezzy, and Biscuit is more of a casual girl. A thunder coat has been a blessing for my girls because they are so afraid of storms. These may be bought at many vets. It is styled with a gray soft fabric and fits very snugly with velcro, which gives the frightened dog a sense of security during a storm with thunder and lightening.

My girls are nagging me to go to bed. Yes, they even decide what time is right for our pack to go to bed.

Darlings, do try the ice cream for your adorable dogs, it must be delicious: my girls whine for more all the time!
