DIXIE STAMPEDE, FOOD CITY KID’S CLUB PRESENT 8TH ANNUAL FUN-FILLED CHILDREN’S “WHOADEO” ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27

For the 8th year, Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede has partnered with Food City stores and Pepsi for the fun-filled “Whoadeo” on Saturday, September 27.

The prize-filled event, open to children ages three to 12, features stick horse competitions, a parade of horses, and costume contests in the Dixie Stampede arena and a free outdoor carnival from 8:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children will participate in three age groups: ages 3-5; 6-9 and 10-12. Every Whoadeo participant (ages three to 12) receives a free Dixie Stampede admission ticket to the 6 p.m. dinner show on September 27 with the purchase of an adult ticket.

Participants can register for the event during the Food City Whoadeo coloring contest, under way now through September 14. Entry forms are available at all Food City locations. A winner will be selected from each store and receive a certificate which can be redeemed for a free stick horse at Dolly’s Dixie Critters gift shop. The stick horse can be “ridden” in the Whoadeo.

Children may register for the Whoadeo on Saturday, September 27, beginning at 8 a.m. at Dixie Stampede located on the Parkway in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

The Parade of Horses and stick horse races begin at 9:45 a.m. in the facility’s arena. The only requirement to compete in the Whoadeo is a stick horse which can be purchased or homemade.

“This is Food City’s 8th year to join Dixie Stampede for our family-friendly Whoadeo event,” said Steven C. Smith, President and CEO of Food City. “From returning Whoadeo competitors to first-time participants, this event celebrates creativity in an atmosphere that’s fun for everyone.”

First place winners from each age bracket of the Food City store coloring contest will compete along with other registrants in a series of Whoadeo competitions, including a “parade of stick horses” and “stick horse barrel races,” both of which will take place in the Dixie Stampede arena. Contestants will compete for first, second and third place trophies in each competition in each of three age brackets—ages 3-5, 6-9 and 10-12—culminating in a Whoadeo grand prize trophy winner.

All children must be accompanied by a parent and/or guardian. Families are invited to attend the Whoadeo carnival from 8:00 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Dixie Stampede parking lot. Food City will provide complimentary hotdogs, and Pepsi will provide soft drinks. Each Whoadeo participant also will receive a Kid’s Club backpack from Food City (while supplies last) and a one-day child’s ticket to Dollywood.
