The annual Scots-Irish Festival came to the historic town square in Dandridge on Saturday, September 27, 2014. Kilts and clans were in abundance as the streets filled with revelers. Always well attended, this year’s Festival did not disappoint and early estimations from vendors indicate that this might be a record breaking year for attendance. For one day, the fare and fun are both a nod to the Scots-Irish heritage of the area, bringing locals and visitors out to celebrate the ancestry of an exciting group of early settlers. The pipes played and the drums resounded through the square, from the parade of pups to the last chords of the evening concert, kith and kin embraced the event. As the street party gave way to the evening Ceilidh and the waters on Loch Douglas quieted for the night, the sound of a lone bagpipe signaled the end of successful day.
