The streets of the Historic Mossy Creek District were filled on Saturday, October 4, 2014, as Old Time Saturday came to the city. A highly anticipated annual event, this year’s street fair brought out crafters, dancers and antique car enthusiasts who set up shop on the streets of the old city. In addition to the food and fun in the music filled streets, some lucky individuals were the winners of People’s Choice Awards for various contests.

Winners in the categories of Car Show were 1st Dan Jarnigan, 2nd JoAnne Hodgson and 3rd Robert Mitchel. In the Tractor Show, Charles Newman took home 1st place, followed by Jack Mayes in 2nd and Wayne Estes in 3rd. Kathleen Vanorsdel brought home the top two honors in the Quilt show and was joined by Terry Graves who took home 3rd place honors. In the Photo Contest, Chris Davis brought home 1st place and Brenda Spencer captured 3rd. The 2nd place winning photo was a picture of old Nelson-Merry School and the photographer was unknown at the time of press.

Old time Saturday is held the first Saturday in October and is a great way for locals and visitors to celebrate the heritage of the Historic Mossy Creek District and the folks that lived and worked there in years past. As the Historic Mossy Creek District grows and changes, it is festivals like Old Time Saturday that remind the community of a wonderful time gone by in the history of Jefferson City.
