Jefferson City Chief of Police Resigns

City Manager John B. Johnson today announced the resignation of Chief of Police Kenneth W. Davis. Davis has accepted an appointment with the State of Tennessee in an emergency management capacity.

Since joining the Jefferson City Police Department in November of 2012, Davis worked to bring additional grant funding to the agency in the area of traffic safety, developed a full time narcotics investigation program, and emplaced a competency-based hiring process. David commented that his tenure with the Jefferson city Police Department has seen some of the most professionally satisfying milestones of his career.

Chief Davis will continue to serve in his present capacity through October 31, 2014. He plans to maintain a close relationship with the City and will participate in the search for his successor.

City Manager Johnson regrets the loss of Chief Davis as he has been a great asset and has shown the highest degree of professionalism, and wanted to wish him well in this new endeavor.
