CN Men’s Soccer: Lads Prepare for SAC Foe Lenoir-Rhyne

carson-newman sports logoThe Carson-Newman (3-4-1, 2-1-1 SAC) men’s soccer team plays guest at Lenoir-Rhyne (3-4-2, 3-1 SAC) for tomorrow’s conference matchup.

The Eagles tied SAC rival Tusculum 1-1 after 110 minutes of action on McCown Field last Wednesday. Marius Staalby (Norway) stole an early lead for C-N with a header goal in the 12th minute off a cross by Lucas Siqueira (Brazil).

Tusculum tied it up in the 76th minute for a 1-1 final.

L-R also tied Wednesday with a 3-3 contest at North Georgia. UNG led 2-1 in the 67th minute and went up 3-1 in the 83rd. Thirty seconds later, Avery Robinson scored an unassisted goal from 45 yards out to bring the game back within one point.

In the 90th minute, Mattias Thompson collected a deflected shot and tied it up with one second remaining on the clock.

Last season, C-N dropped the Bears 3-0. Then junior Kristian Speake (United Kingdom) claimed the winning goal in the 17th minute.
