carson-newman sports logoCoker (2-6-4, 2-3-2 SAC) commutes to McCown Field tomorrow at 7 p.m. to battle the Carson-Newman (5-5-2, 4-1-2 SAC) men’s soccer team.

Both the Cobras and the Eagles are coming off non-conference losses. C-N fell 3-1 to no. 5 Young Harris on the road last Wednesday. Junior center back Rurik Pereira (Brazil) claimed the Eagles’ lone goal.

On Wednesday, the Cobras dropped a 3-2 match at USC Aiken. Coker got the first goal in the 51st minute thanks to Tony Quiroz. USC Aiken tied it up 10 minutes later and took the lead three minutes after that. Coker brought it back to a tie in the 79th with a goal by Ian Fellenz, but USC Aiken landed a goal in the 88th to steal the victory.

This season, Coker tied both Wingate and Catawba 0-0. The Eagles defeated Catawba 3-0 but fell 2-1 at Wingate.

Last season, the lads defeated Coker 4-0. This year senior Nico Noll (Germany) supplied the game winning goal in the 7th minute off a pass from Ross Frame (United Kingdom). Frame proceeded to put in a hat trick over the course of 43 minutes, one unassisted and two assisted by Noll, to finalize the score 4-0.

This year’s SAC contest between the Cobras and C-N is set to begin tomorrow at 7 p.m. on McCown Field. Watch or follow live at www.cneagles.com/admin.
