Halloween has come and gone, leaving behind only memories of a spooky evening filled with costumes and candy. Saturday morning found jack o lanterns that had seen their better days and candy wrappers from a bevy of confectionery delights littering front porches and living rooms. Despite a rainy, cold and, eventually, snowy night nothing could dampen the spirit of the spirits that roamed the streets looking for trick or treats. The historic town square in Dandridge was filled with young and young at heart, as they collected their treats. In other areas of Jefferson County, the princesses and princes, scary and hairy lined up a local churches and the Jefferson County Rescue Squad for trunk or treat. Now the evening has passed and thoughts will quickly turn to turkey, dressing and elves. The images of candy canes will soon replace the falling leaves-red and green will outshine the colorful hues of fall. After the candy induced haze has cleared, a shocking thought will intrude and, with it, the traditional holiday panic. Thanksgiving is just four Thursdays away.
