2014 Trends Towards Decrease In Traffic Fatalities

Despite several recent vehicle accidents in Jefferson County, information from the Tennessee Traffic Fatalities Report indicates that, Statewide, 2014 is looking to be a safer year on Tennessee roadways. While the numbers of teen accidents are on the rise, accidents involving drivers age 65 and up have seen a significant decline. The summer months of 2014 found June registering 14 more fatalities than in 2013, however the trend since June has been toward fewer deaths on Tennessee roads.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol answers over half a million distress calls from motorist every year. According to the National Safety Council, one in eight drivers will be in an accident this year. In 2013, there were more than 158,000 motor vehicle accidents across the State.
