Governor’s Highway Safety Office Awards Dandridge Police Department $31K

The Tennessee Governor’s Highway Safety Office recently awarded the Dandridge Police Department $31,413.00 for alcohol enforcement, announces Chief Carson Williams.

In previous years, GHSO awarded Dandridge Police Department $5,000 for high visibility traffic enforcement efforts. This fiscal year, the DPD was awarded over $31,000 to combat impaired driving. This funding will be used for in-car cameras, radar, and officer overtime. The additional equipment will allow officers to detect and document dangerous behavior that can be an indicator of impairment. The overtime funding will be utilized to increase saturation patrols on the roadways during peak travel seasons. During these increased enforcement times, officers will concentrate their efforts on removing drunk drivers from the streets.

“Citizens are going to begin seeing these increased efforts next month around the holidays. There are many ways to get home safely after drinking, and driving isn’t one of them” said Sergeant Chris Fair, Dandridge Police Department. “The Governor’s Highway Safety Office and the Dandridge Police Department have the same goal, which is to reduce crashes and injuries and keep people safe. If you make the choice to drink and drive, there will be consequences.”
