The Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity hosted Hard Hats and High Heels on Thursday evening. Founded in 1987, the Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity is a Christian based, non profit organization that is focused on assisting qualified families with purchasing affordable housing. Thursday’s event was just one of the fundraising opportunities, as well as community outreach events, that are presented throughout the year. A program, dinner and silent auction were part of the activities of the late week gala. Funds that are raised from this and other fundraisers will be used to help provide homes for families in the community. Additionally, Habitat for Humanity operates a ReStore on hwy 92 that offers a great shopping opportunity for a wide variety of items, such as furniture, bedding, clothing and household items. The Restore is open Tuesday-Saturday and provides shoppers a Christmas trifecta- the chance to purchase quality inexpensive, recycled items while donating to a worthy cause.
