The Carson Newman ROTC Cadets under the supervision of Col. Gregg Stephens presented a Flag Etiquette Program to 150 students in the 4th and 5th Grades at Lincoln Elementary School on November 21, 2014. The program was initiated by Samuel Doak Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Flag Committee Chairman Barbara Baker and Dr. Paula Davis, Assistant Principal of Lincoln Elementary School, who is also a member of the Samuel Doak Chapter Flag Committee. The cadets presented the history of the US Flag, how to fold the US Flag and the practical exercise on flag folding (i.e. students actually fold the flag), how to display the US Flag, how to destroy a damaged US Flag, and how to act during the Star Spangled Banner, the Pledge of Allegiance, and when the Colors are being presented.
