Jefferson County Retired Teachers held their final meeting of the year on Saturday morning, December 6, 2014. The group of former Jefferson County educators gathered for breakfast at Carson-Newman University Stokely Memorial Cafeteria, enjoying food, fellowship and an informational program. This was a special meeting because both retired and active Jefferson County educators were invited to attend. In addition, attendees donated supplies to SafeSpace, an organization that provides emergency shelter, as well as crisis intervention and counseling, to victims of domestic violence. SafeSpace has been a longstanding philanthropy of the Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association and it has an outreach office located in Sevierville and Dandridge.
