The Wrap Belt

Darlings, although the chilly winter winds are still blowing, the spring 2015 fashion forecast is in full swing. Haute designers are defining the trends or “must haves” for fashionistas.  Alexander McQueen, among other fashion icons, is declaring the “Wrap Belt” to be in style.

The belt is worn around the top of one’s hips and knotted with the ties streaming down.  This new trendy belt may also be wrapped several times around the hips, giving a more dramatic flair.  Coats, jackets, dresses, skirts, slacks, and even skinny jeans will be accessorized brilliantly with this type of belt.

Halston made this look very fashionable in the 70’s.  I well remember a stunning red evening gown designed with a slim trumpet skirt and sleeves styled with modified kimono design. The sash was about three feet long and was wrapped around the top of the hips and waist about two times, and the ties were so beautiful as they streamed loosely.  This gown is an all-time favorite of mine: the wrap belt made my waist look so tiny.  Such a classic!

I absolutely adore this look that whittles the waist, so welcome back, “Wrap Belt!”
