New Year’s Resolutions

Well, we’re two weeks into the New Year and I am wondering who is still hanging onto their New Year’s resolutions. I do not make them anymore, as I am now wise enough to know, without a shadow of doubt, I will break them, and in a very short time. I once followed the ritual to only meet defeat. I never understood that only small steps will improve anything, and New Year’s resolutions are giant leaps. No… I’m going to take it nice and easy, and in my own sweet time, make minute changes. Memories sometimes make us wise.

According to the Journal of Clinical Psychology, the University of Scranton researched making and keeping New Year’s resolutions in 2014. The top 19 resolutions were ranked.

1. Lose Weight

2. Getting Organized

3. Spend Less, Save More

4. Enjoy Life to the Fullest

5. Staying Fit and Healthy

6. Learn Something Exciting

7. Quit Smoking

8. Help Others in Their Dreams

9. Fall in Love

10. Spend More Time with Family

Statistically,

– 45% usually make New Year’s Resolutions

– 17% infrequently make New Year’s Resolutions

– 38% never make New Year’s Resolutions

– 8% successfully keep New Year’s Resolutions

– 49% infrequent success keeping New Year’s Resolutions

– 24% never succeed keeping New Year’s Resolutions

– 25% do not make it through the first week, and 30% through two weeks.

Good luck, and I’m hoping you are more dedicated than most!
