The Jefferson County Lady Patriots didn’t get off to the start they wanted on Tuesday night against Seymour. However, they did get the result. “I thought we did a great job defensively the whole ball game” JCHS Coach Rick Sinard said “First half we just wasn’t moving (offensively) we were just kind of standing.”

The first quarter saw two teams that were evenly matched and the score was 10-8 after one. Makaila Woolard would score 4 of her 12 points in the second and the Lady Patriots carried a 18-13 lead into the half.

Sinard was not pleased with his team at half time, “They got a pretty good chewing at halftime.” He added “ They out-aggressive us in the first half, and that’s why we weren’t able to finish shots.”

The “pretty good chewing” must have hit home for the Lady Patriots as they outscored the Lady Eagles 18-3 in the third quarter, including a 16-0 run, and led 36-16 heading to the fourth.

The Lady Patriots would continue their push in the final stanza before allowing Seymour to score a few baskets at the end of the game. Jefferson County would win 48-35 and improve to 5-1 in conference play. (13-5 overall)

Alexandria Alder led all scorers on the night with 13 points, while Makaila Woolard chipped in 12 for the Lady Pats. Tori Griffin would also add 10 points to the stat book as well.
