Jefferson County outscored Seymour 40-12 in the 2nd half Tuesday night, and rolled to an 80-51 victory over the conference foe. “First half we didn’t defend very well” JCHS Head Coach Chris Poore explained “ We played too much with our hands, and gave them 12 free throws.”

Much differently than the girl’s game earlier in the night, offense was surely on display on the first half. Foul trouble would haunt the Patriots for most of that first half, but still led at the half 40-39.

With the foul trouble in the half it allowed some guys to come off the bench with some big time plays for the Pats. “Grant (Seale) has been doing a good job it’s nothing new for him” Poore added “Trey (Dobyns) played pretty good, got one or two big offensive rebounds for us.”

With the Patriots in a struggle, senior Kyle Briggs became the spark needed, scoring 11 of his team high 21 points in the third quarter. Poore says there is none better to have to do that, “We needed something” Poore added “and there is not a better player to do that than Kyle, he’s a competitor, and he’s a winner.”

The Patriots would end the third quarter on a 22-3 run and lead 62-44 and the end of three. Jefferson County would again outscore them in the fourth 18-7 and cruise past the Eagles, 80-51

Senior Kyle Briggs led all Patriots with 21 points. John Bryant, who was held scoreless in the first half, tallied 12 points for Jefferson County in the second half. Danny Bates and Trey Dobyns would score 11 and 10 respectively.
