Vols in search of OC 12 days from NSD

With the most critical time of recruiting now upon us, the Vols find themselves in search of a key assistant coach. Mike Bajakian, the Vols offensive coordinator, has accepted the QB coaching job for the NFL’s Tampa Bay Bucaneers.

With the Vols’ recruiting class ranked anywhere between 3-5, depending on the recruiting service you go by, Butch Jones cannot allow this hire to go by the way side. Butch Jones must hire someone who fits his offensive scheme and personnel he has waiting on him at UT.

The Vols will be returning 10 of 11 offensive starters from last season and with many of the Vols’ top offensive commitments for this 2015 class stating that they are still solid to Tennessee Jones can afford to hire the most comfortable guy for him. Jones has been reported to say that he is looking for the right fit and oppertunity for the team.

Notable Candidates for Vacant OC job

Zach Azzani– Current Wide Receivers coach and recruiting coordinator for UT, Azzani would help the transition and allow the offense to continue to run identical offense as now.

Sonny Cumbie– Current Co-Offensive Coordinator at TCU, Cumbie worked wonders with Trevone Boykin who went from struggling QB to Heisman Candidate. Would work great with Josh Dobbs and the other young QB’s specifically in this class.

Calvin Magee– Current Co-Offensive Coordinator at Arizona, runs a very similar offense as former OC Bajakian and would work great with Gillespie with running backs, as well as QB’s.
