Tennessee Career Center at Talbott Offers 20 Free Workshops In February

The Tennessee Career Center at Talbott, an American Jobs Center, offers 20 free workshops in February for individuals looking to improve job search skills.

Scheduled workshops are:

•Ex-Offender Job Readiness (learn how to re-enter the job market with a criminal record) – 10—11 a.m., Feb. 2, 9 or 23.

•Computer Literacy and Mouse Practice – 9 a.m.-9:30 a.m. Feb 3 or 1-1:30 p.m. Feb. 24.

•Computer Literacy – 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Feb. 3 or 1:30-4:30 p.m. Feb. 24.

•Job Search Marketability Lab (learn how to use jobs4tn.gov, improve your resume and cover letters, complete applications and use social media in your job search) –9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 24. Come at your convenience.

•Veterans Workshop (covers jobs4tn, resume and cover letters, more) – 9 a.m.-noon Feb. 12 and 26.

•Computer Literacy, Electronic Spreadsheet – 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Feb. 5.

•Computer Literacy Electronic Slide Presentations – 2-4:30 p.m., Feb. 5.

•Job Readiness Series (learn job search basics, resume and cover letters, interviewing techniques and impressive applications) – 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Feb. 10 or Feb. 26.

•Computer Literacy, Electronic Database Management – 9 a.m.-noon, Feb. 12.

•Computer Literacy, Electronic Publishing – 1:30-4:30 p.m., Feb. 12.

•Navigating Social and Professional Websites – 9:30 a.m.-noon, Feb. 17.

•Computer Literacy, Electronic Note Management – 2:30-4:30 p.m., Feb. 17.

•Computer Literacy, E-mail Basics – 1:30-3 p.m., Feb. 19.

•Computer Literacy, Internet Basics – 3-4:30 p.m., Feb. 19.

Funding is provided through a partnership between the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development and Walters State Community College.

The Tennessee Career Center at Talbott offers a resource lab with computers, printers and fax machines. Job seekers may use these at no charge. Representatives from many area agencies are located at the Center, including, the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Tennessee College of Applied Sciences, the Adult Education Program, Douglas Cherokee Economic Authority, training programs and available financial aid. All services are available at no charge; the only requirement is that individuals be at least 18 years of age. Those under 18 may receive services from the Smoky Mountains Youth Council, which is also located at the Center.
