The Jefferson County Lady Patriots have found their place of comfort after losing on the road at Cocke County on January 9th. Jefferson County has now won 6 straight games, including a 57-37 victory over Cocke County at home on Friday night.

With the win, JCHS has now avenged both of their conference losses in a big way, defeating the two teams that had previously had their number by an average of 24.5 points per game.

With the win, the Lady Patriots now have a much better chance to win conference, with only one conference game remaining. Head Coach Rick Sinard says that played a large part for motivation for his team. “They knew they had to have this one tonight to have a chance to win the league.” He added, “They came out and they marked their territory tonight.”

The Lady Pats finished the 1st half on an 18-4 run to open up a 32-11 lead at half time, and were able to hold that same lead for most of the second half, winning 57-37.

Jefferson County held Mika Wester, Cocke County’s prolific scorer, to just 12 points on the night, and Sinard acknowledged afterward that was the plan. “We went zone a lot,” Sinard added, “so, basically, we could have everybody in her face all night.”

During their 6 game winning streak, the Lady Patriots have pushed their record to 19-6 and 11-2 in the conference.

Senior Brooke Taylor led the way for the Lady Pats with 19 points, followed by sophomore Makaila Woolard with 11. Tori Griffin added 10, while Julia Codispoti, Ryleigh Fritz, and Alexandria Alder each scored 4.

JCHS returns to action at home against Cherokee on Tuesday night at 6 pm.
