The Jefferson County High School Class of 2015 presented their Senior Play last week, to rousing audience approval. In this thirteen production, JCHS seniors offered the kitchy musical comedy of Legally Blonde, The Musical. Based on the novel by Amanda Brown and featuring music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin, Legally Blonde takes the audience on the journey of sorority girl Elle Woods, as she travels an unexpected path to becoming more than even she thought she could be.

Along the way Elle and her constant companion Bruiser, a fiercely adorable Chihuahua, toil the hallowed halls of Harvard Law School, finding justice, self worth and love in the arms of attorney Emmett Forest.

Savanah Orr brought Elle to life and her love, Emmett, was played by Steven McCoy. An extensive cast included Isaac Fields as Elle’s former love Warner, Bekah Gladden as his new love interest Vivienne, Caleb Maxey as Professor Callahan and Anna Lee Hawkins as Brooke Wyndham. Hannah Oaks gave voice to Paulette and Jarret Moser was Paulette’s object of desire, Kyle ( better known as the UPS guy). Principal players were surrounded by a talented supporting cast that contributed to some wonderful ensembles.

This year’s production was held at the Gentry Auditorium, on Carson Newman University Campus. However, this is a milestone year for the JCHS Senior Play, as it will come home to Jefferson County High School in 2016 for the first time in new James D. Swann Performing Arts Center.
