Boys & Girls Club of America Director of Organizational Development Chet Nichols was on hand with local Boys & Girls Club Director Jessica Page to present an award to the Jefferson County Commission on Monday evening. The Commission received the prestigious C.A.R.E. Award, which is given in recognition of outstanding efforts to positively impact the lives of Children, according to Nichols. He stated that the award had not been given in Tennessee in a couple of years, when it went to a middle Tennessee organization that was active in feeding needy children. The C.A.R.E. acronym stands for Children Are the Reason for Excellence. An award plaque was given to the full Commission Body for their financial support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dumplin Valley and White Pine. Interest in expanding the Boys &Girls Club to the New Market and Rush Strong area could mean that Jefferson County, in its entirety, will soon be served by the active club.
